People Over Platforms Worldwide is an independent, federally incorporated Canadian nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing digital rights, promoting accountability, and advocating for fair and transparent treatment across online platforms. We believe that behind every account, every automated decision, and every piece of data is a real person whose rights, experiences, and well-being deserve to be respected.
As digital platforms become increasingly essential to everyday life, unfair decisions can have devastating consequences. Wrongful account suspensions, inaccessible appeals, automated enforcement errors, and inadequate support can disrupt livelihoods, disconnect communities, erase years of memories, and leave individuals without meaningful ways to seek resolution. These are not simply technical problems. They are real-world issues that demand transparency, accountability, and meaningful human oversight.
Through advocacy, education, public awareness, and practical support, we work to amplify affected voices and encourage lasting improvements in how digital platforms operate. We believe innovation and accountability must go hand in hand, and that no individual should be left powerless when technology makes mistakes. HOW IT ALL BEGAN
From one voice to a worldwide movement
What began on May 22, 2025, as a petition demanding accountability from major digital platforms quickly grew into something much greater. People from around the world came forward to share their experiences of wrongful account suspensions, automated enforcement failures, inaccessible appeals, and the devastating consequences of losing access to their digital lives.
As thousands of supporters joined the movement, it became clear that these were not isolated incidents. Individuals, families, creators, and businesses were facing similar challenges, often with no meaningful way to reach a human representative or challenge decisions that affected their livelihoods, communities, and personal connections.
On July 9, 2025, People Over Platforms Worldwide officially became a federally incorporated Canadian nonprofit organization. What started as a grassroots petition evolved into an independent advocacy organization committed to advancing digital rights, demanding greater transparency, and holding powerful technology companies accountable.
Today, our mission extends far beyond the original petition. We continue to advocate for meaningful human oversight, fair appeals, accessible support, and stronger protections for people navigating an increasingly digital world. What began with one voice has become a worldwide call for change.
